Youngberg Hill is releasing the 2009 Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc this weekend.
2009 Aspen Pinot Gris
Our 2009 Aspen Pinot Gris is the first vintage with our own estate grow fruit coming from the Aspen Block. The 2009 vintage is loaded with fruit flavors and complexity that is not always the case with a Pinot Gris. The aromatics include peach, grapefruit, mineral, and a hint of vanilla. Flavors abound with lemon, grapefruit, and peach with a nice hint of earth. It is fun to drink because every time you take a sip, you discover a new dimension. With Residual Sugar of .3 and a little higher acidity, the 2009 is very crisp with a soft, clean finish.
The wine has excellent balance for drinking alone at cool temperatures and with cheeses or a light salad.
2009 Pinot Blanc
The 2009 Pinot Blanc is another expression of the lovely aspects that Pinot Blanc gives to any food. The aromatics remind you of banana and citrus. The fruit flavors of peach, banana, and lemon are bountiful. The 2009 has richness and creaminess that makes the wine melt in your mouth, but lingers even with food. The 2009 is also on the dryer side at .3% Residual Sugar and higher acidity.
The 2009 vintage is a wonderful complement to food with a crab cake being my favorite. The rich, smooth, creamy, full flavors will keep you coming back for another sip.
