It has been a busy week.
In the vineyard, bud break and leafing out is pretty much over and the shoots are beginning to form. The stripping of the buds off the stocks of the Aspen Block was completed. Both the Camelot and Aspen Blocks were in row cultivated this week and the cover crop was mowed in the entire vineyard. A crew was in today to put the finishing touches around hoeing close to the vines.
In the winery, the 2009 Pinot gris and Pinot blanc are bottled and tasting pretty great. Both are on the dryer side (.3 RS) and are robust with fruit flavors and complexity for such young wines. With a little higher acidity, they are crisp and clean with a soft finish.
We are preparing to bottle the 2008 Pinot noirs next week. They are fantastic!
In the Inn, the new entry way and front door were installed. The new siding is all done. And now only finishing touches need to be completed. We are ready for the season.
This weekend we are at Astoria at the Astoria wine and Seafood Festival. Come over and see us. On Monday we will be at The Taste of the Nation event raising money for the food program in Portland. Please come and support this wonderful cause. Our tasting room is open all weekend, so come up and taste our new 2009 gris and blanc, and enjoy the best view in the Willamette Valley.
