Just a short drive from downtown Portland, the Willamette Valley is the most well known of Oregon’s 17 wine growing regions, and is home to more than 225 wineries. Travel Oregon has put together some beautiful Oregon biking routes that will take you right through the heart of Willamette Valley wine country. Youngberg Hill Vineyards & Inn, a frequent stop for bike tours, is the perfect place for you to spend a couple of days as you explore the more than one hundred miles of additional biking routes accessible from our driveway. If you’re just passing through the area, be sure to stop in to our wonderful tasting room, which is open 7 days a week from 10am to 4pm, and experience the unforgettable joy of meeting the winemakers and seeing the grapevines as you taste our exquisite wines. If you’re looking for a longer scenic Oregon biking route, try the Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway, which stretches out for 132.5 stunning miles. The Willamette Valley Bikeway, the first official Bikeway in the state of Oregon, starts in Champoeg State Park in the north and heads south, passing by fields of Oregon’s famous hops, stunning regional vineyards, and quaint towns. Don’t forget to stop for tastings at the many Willamette Valley wineries along the way. Continue on and you’ll pass through the Ankeny Wildlife Refuge, and then you’ll head into the toughest portion of the ride as you climb the pass just south of the picture-perfect town of Brownsville, ending at Armitage County Park.
If you’re looking for something a bit more challenging than our scenic bikeways, Oregon is also home to world class mountain bike trails. In the Willamette Valley area, you’ll find great trails at the Black Rock Mountain Bike Area, an area known to mountain bikers as having intermediate to extreme terrain. There are also a host of companies that offer guided tours, so you’re sure to get the most of your Oregon biking experience.
