The vines are growing like crazy in Oregon Pinot Noir country. June and July are the most prolific growing months of the season. We are all working feverishly to keep the vines (and therefore the canopy) managed through shoot positioning and hedging. It took over a month to get through bloom, but fruit set took place over just a few days with some hot weather to push things along.
Every day on The Hill is beautiful and our guests are enjoying the views and the wine. The vineyard looks so pristine now that we have hedged. There was good fruit set, so we will be evaluating crop levels in the next week to determine how much fruit to cut off. We are still about 3 weeks behind a normal season (if there is such a thing).
