The Perfect Sparkling Wine for the Holidays

Sommelier pouring a glass of Oregon Sparkling wine and Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir has a solid reputation worldwide as being among the best, but did you know that there’s also a growing industry of Oregon sparkling wine here, too? It’s true! You’ll find a full spectrum of bright and bubbly wines alongside sensational Pinot Noir and Chardonnay produced in the valley. These Oregon Sparkling wines are welcome on our palate any time of year, but they add a particularly nice touch to your holiday celebrations.

Like most wine varietals, you’ll find plenty of nuance and variety in Oregon Sparkling wine. These wines are, after all, made from the same Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varietals as other wines; they just undergo a bit more processing in the form of a second fermentation with yeast or sugar, which ultimately leads to the classically effervescent bubbles we’re so fond of. With tasting notes ranging from pear and honey to savory and green, you will surely find something here for every taste.

You’ll find some of the best sparkling wine in Oregon at Youngberg Hill Vineyard and Winery, alongside our renowned bottles of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. As a guest at our McMinnville Bed and Breakfast, you’ll enjoy a complimentary wine tasting with every stay. This is a great way to start your tasting journey at various Willamette Valley wineries. Our McMinnville Bed and Breakfast is located atop our 50-acre estate, overlooking our beautiful vineyards below.

With nine guest rooms, extraordinary views, and every modern luxury amenity you could wish for, our McMinnville Bed and Breakfast is perfect for a romantic winter escape. Get ready to sample delicious Oregon sparkling wine and book your room with us today!

Youngberg Hill Oregon Sparkling Wine

Discover the Best Oregon Sparkling Wine

Whether you’re new to Oregon wines or a seasoned connoisseur, this winter presents a fantastic opportunity to sip and swirl your way through the top Willamette Valley wineries. Among these fantastic opportunities to taste award-winning wines is the chance to sample some of the newest Oregon sparkling wine.

Though sparkling wines have recently enjoyed a surge in popularity, they have a long history in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. In recent years, Oregon’s sparkling wines have even been featured in Travel & Leisure. Though these sparkling wines are comparable to Champagne, which is made from a combination of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, only wines produced in the Champagne region of France can be called Champagne. Even so, many of the bubbly wines made in Oregon are made using the same traditional methods used in this legendary region of France.

That includes the Oregon sparkling wine made right here at Youngberg Hill Vineyard and Winery. As a guest at our McMinnville Bed and Breakfast, you’ll enjoy a free tasting of our estate-made wines. From there, you can head out in search of other delicious Oregon sparkling wine. For a truly fun bubbles-centered tasting adventure in Oregon Wine Country, consider visiting wineries along the Best Oregon Bubbles (BOB) Trail. A few notable options worth considering include the following:

  1. Argyle Winery, often referred to as the pioneer for popularizing Oregon’s sparkling wine industry, uses a similar extended triage method, just like we do at our Willamette Valley winery. We recommend you enjoy a flight here, as well as an in-depth and informative tour.
  2. Sokol Blosser Winery is one of the leading Willamette Valley wineries for sparkling wines. They’ve been making wine in the Willamette Valley for over 50 years and have mastered their craft, particularly when it comes to producing well-balanced Oregon sparkling wine.
  3. Soter Vineyards is another biodynamic farm that produces exceptional Oregon sparkling wine. They make balanced and bright Blanc de Blanc and brut rose sparkling wines.
  4. ROCO Winery in the Willamette Valley’s Dundee Hills region has focused on Oregon sparkling wines for over 30 years. Head to this tasting room for a lovely flight of the bubbly varieties of brut and brut roses.
  5. Elk Cove Vineyards is another long-time producer in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. They make three sparkling varieties: A brut rose of Pinot Noir, a cuvee of Pinot and Chardonnay, and a 100% Chardonnay, which is the newest bubbly addition.

Award-Winning Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

As delicious and fun as your Oregon sparkling wine adventure will be, you can’t come to wine country and not sample some of the region’s most famous wine: Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. You can, of course, sample a selection of Youngberg Hill’s Pinot Noirs in our McMinnville tasting room, alongside a selection of our Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, sparkling wine, and other varietals. We encourage you to plan a broad tasting adventure to get an authentic feel for Oregon’s diverse terroir and flavor profiles.

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir burst onto the scene in the 1960s and quickly earned a reputation for excellence. The cool-climate-loving Pinot Noir grape can be finicky, but the temperate climate and relatively short growing season in Oregon’s Willamette Valley is relatively perfect. Not only that, but it’s very similar to what’s found in France’s premier Burgundy region. Today, the Willamette Valley is home to over 700 wineries and vineyards, with Pinot Noir remaining the dominant grape variety.

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is well-regarded as an elegant, nuanced, and expressive varietal that really showcases the valley’s diverse terroir. It has become a sought-after wine destination, attracting wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs worldwide. Here at our Willamette Valley winery, we’ve focused our efforts on holistic farming and natural winemaking, and the results have been delicious. Our Willamette Valley Pinot Noir represents our spectacular valley and is a must when planning a wine-tasting adventure in the valley.

We offer several tasting experiences, including a curated selection of estate wines in our tasting room, a seated reserve label tasting, a vineyard tour and tasting, a wine blending experience, and more. Of course, with so many fantastic wine experiences waiting for you in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, you’ll want to stay for a few days to explore it all. With expansive views and luxury guest suites steps away from our exquisite tasting room, there’s no better place to stay in the Willamette Valley than our McMinnville Bed and Breakfast.
