The Must-Visit Wineries in Oregon this Year

Where to Stay in Willamette Valley to try the best wineries in Oregon

The Willamette Valley is renowned for producing some of the finest wines in the world—specifically pinot noir, a temperamental grape that’s thrived in the conditions. Wine enthusiasts seeking this varietal’s nuanced flavors and complexities will find an array of options at the wineries in Oregon near McMinnville and beyond.

The Willamette Valley is a vast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in the United States, spanning over 3.5 million acres. Nine smaller AVAs within the Valley have been recognized as of 2020. Each of these smaller pockets, or families of vineyards, has unique characteristics reflected in the wines produced, always due to factors like elevation, soil composition, weather, and other environmental conditions. Around 700 Oregon wineries are in the Willamette Valley—which is two-thirds of the state’s wineries.

One of the best wineries in Oregon, located about ten minutes from McMinnville, offers a variety of single vineyard pinot noir, bright, sparkling wine, and delicate whites. Founded in 1989, Youngberg Hill aspires to create the best wine from the grapes grown in each vintage. Our tasting room is open to the public, but the easiest way to enjoy our wines is as a guest at our Willamette Valley Bed and Breakfast. You’ll be steps away from our tasting room and have an elegant guest room with luxurious amenities awaiting you. Start planning your tour of the best wineries in Oregon and book your lodging today!

Wineries in Oregon for Wine Tastings and Tours

As a guest at our Willamette Valley Bed and Breakfast, you’ll witness the surrounding vineyards from our hilltop estate, where we practice biodynamic farming techniques at one of the best wineries in Oregon with two labels: Youngberg Hill and Bailey Family Wines.

Feel free to walk right into the Youngberg Hill tasting room (though you will need a reservation for seated tastings and tours). We serve a lovely menu of various wines depending on availability, which include pinot noir, pinot gris, rosé, sparking, and chardonnay. We also offer wine by the glass and wine by the bottle. You may also sample our Bailey Family Wine Library wines for an additional fee.
