January in the vineyard

It has been a great week. The weather has been reasonably good for getting a lot done in the vineyard. Pruning of the Natasha and Jordan blocks is done and the Jordan is trim and tied. We are about 1/3 through the Aspen block pruning and trim and tying. We will two bud the Camelot block later.

The guests enjoyed the storm yesterday, watching the clouds blow by, enjoying a glass of Youngberg Hill Pinot noir, and cozied up in front of the fireplace. They stayed dry. We got wet.

The 2007 Pinot noirs are really starting to evolve nicely in the bottle. There has been much bad press about the 2007 vintage and the ratings on the vintage overall have not been too stellar. But is you really appreciate Oregon Pinot for what it is meant to be, enjoy the more complex and rustic aspects, or enjoy your Burgundies; you will like many 2007s.
