Choosing Where to Stay in Willamette Valley

Oregon’s Willamette Valley begins near the Willamette River just south of Portland and stretches south for approximately 150 miles towards Eugene. It’s the leading wine region in the state, housing at least two-thirds of Oregon’s wineries. When it comes to choosing where to stay in Willamette Valley, there are a lot of places to choose from.  With 7 nested appellations to discover, there really is no shortage of wine-laden adventures through the Willamette Valley.  Our favorite, however, is the McMinnville area.

Where to stay in Willamette Valley

Not only is McMinnville pretty centrally located in the Willamette Valley, but it’s by far one of the most charming downtowns, filled with exceptional restaurants, great shopping and natural areas, and plenty of historic charm. Though there is lodging in downtown McMinnville, there are far better choices to make when it comes to choosing where to stay in Willamette Valley.  At the top of your list should be Youngberg Hill, a stunning Willamette Valley Bed and Breakfast and vineyard.

Nestled at the top of a 50-acre estate, the Youngberg Hill Bed and Breakfast offers a luxury lodging experience that is second to none. What to do in Willamette Valley

Just as there’s no shortage of places to stay in Willamette Valley, there’s no shortage of things to do in Willamette Valley.  Wine tasting, of course, should be at the top of that list.  The Willamette Valley is known to produce some of the finest Pinot Noirs in the world, even rivaling those produced in the famed Burgundy region of France.

We offer a couple of wonderful wine tasting experiences at our winery, of course, but recommend you visit many more wineries and tasting rooms in the area to gain a better understanding and fuller appreciation of this incredible area. There are more than 120 wineries and tasting rooms within 20 minutes of our Inn, and we’re happy to offer recommendations and help you plan, of course.

Beyond just wine tasting, though, there are a number of great things to do in Willamette Valley. A few of our favorites include:

  • Enjoy the scenic beauty of Willamette valley by bike. Bike tours of Oregon’s  Willamette Valley are a fun way to travel the valley, all while enjoying a few sips of great wine along the way. If you’re brave enough to try riding (without stopping) up our driveway, there might just be a free bottle of wine waiting for you at the top, too!
  • Wander the historic streets of downtown McMinnville before enjoying a delicious dinner at one of McMinnville’s restaurants – suitable for even the pickiest of foodies among us.
  • Soar across the skies, taking in the Willamette Valley from an entirely new perspective while Hot air ballooning or on helicopter tours.
  • McMinnville isn’t just about the wine. There’s also some really great craft beercider, and spirits made in the area.
  • Head to the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum, home of the famed Spruce Goose.

Choosing where to stay in Willamette Valley is about so much more than choosing a comfortable place to unwind in the evening.  It’s about choosing the experience you want to have in Oregon’s wine country.  And, nowhere else will you have an experience quite like the one awaiting you at our Willamette Valley Bed and Breakfast.  Book your room at our luxury Inn near McMinnville today!
